The P220 is an excellent choice for many applications in the performing arts. Its all-metal body is rugged and robust, enabling the P220 to withstand the rigors of day-to-day use. The P220 is also equipped with a switchable bass cut filter, for reducing wind and keyboard frame noise, and a switchable attenuation pad that reduces the outgoing signal level.
The included shock mount is also very durable and further reduces keyboard frame noise by isolating the microphone from mounting hardware. The P220 itself actually threads into the shock mount, offering supreme microphone stability. This eliminates the need to remove and store the P220 between rehearsals and performances. However, the P220 does come with a rugged metal carrying case for added convenience and peace of mind.
Since the P220 is a condenser microphone, it does require +48v Phantom Power to operate. Fortunately, Phantom Power is very standard in all modern mixers. The P220 is able to handle sound pressure levels of up to 155dB SPL, meaning your star soloists can let loose without worrying about damaging the microphone.
