The On-Stage DB500 is a single-channel (mono) Direct Box that converts any unbalanced ¼” audio source to balanced XLR signal for long cable or snake runs to a mixer or PA system. 
 
The DB500 is equipped with low-distortion passive circuitry that does not require external power. To prevent audio signal clipping, the DB500 has a -20dB and -40dB pad switch that reduces the outbound signal level as well as a ground-lift switch to handle any ground-loop hum that may occur. A throughput connector allows unaltered signals to be passed to other devices, such as a monitor speaker. 
 
The DB500 is built like a brick with a heavy-duty metal enclosure that can easily handle the rigors of the marching arts, protecting internal components and ensuring reliable performance.
